Description :
Data Assimilation in the Geosciences
October 26--27
With the development of complex numerical models in the Geosciences, for example such as air quality, weather forecast, climate, and petroleum reservoir, it is possible to achieve more accurate predictions in those areas using data assimilation, that is, combining the numerical model outputs along with the observations. The aim of this workshop is to discuss recent research activities and develop new collaborations related to data assimilation in the Geosciences. The workshop speakers represent a broad spectrum of backgrounds, including mathematics, statistics and computer science, as well as application areas such as atmospheric sciences, oceanography, and petroleum engineering.
