Mikyoung Jun is a statistician and IAMCS researcher in Core 1 (Forward Multiscale Modeling and Simulation). Jun completed her doctorate degree in statistics at the University of Chicago in 2005. This capped her educational preparation, which also included a bachelor’s degree (1999) and M.Stat. courses (2000) in statistics at Seoul National University, Seoul, South Korea. Jun is assistant professor in Texas A&M’s Department of Statistics, where she has served since 2005 She has also garnered professional experience as a visiting scientist at the National Center for Atmospheric Research, (August 2005 – December 2005), and visiting scientist in the Center for Integrating Statistical and Environmental Science at the University of Chicago, during the summer of 2006 and June – September 2007. Jun has been invited to present her research in statistics departments at many prestigious universities and statistical conferences, both in the U.S. and internationally. She is a co-principal investigator on a NSF grant with Statistics and Atmospheric Science department at Texas A&M, and is currently an associate editor of the Journal of the Korean Statistical Society.
